Holiday and vacation rentals
A digital welcome book for your holiday rental
Chalet, flat or holiday home, let on Airbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo or directly: sooner or later, every guest asks where to eat, where to shop and what to see. HerePicks gathers your favourite places into an online guide that you share with a link and a QR code, instead of pasting a long list into every booking inbox.
The long list in the booking inbox, and what becomes of it
Many owners do this well: before arrival, they send a long message with their restaurants, their bakery and a couple of walks. The trouble comes later. Three days on, standing in the street, the guest has to scroll back through the whole conversation to find the restaurant's name, and the place that closed in the meantime is never corrected.
An online guide keeps the same care without those drawbacks. You write your places once, guests find them on their phone at any time, and a correction applies straight away, including for guests already there. If you're weighing up a PDF, a Google Maps list or a message, our comparison of PDF, Google Maps, WhatsApp or QR code goes through each option.
Airbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo or direct: one guide
The same rental often takes bookings from several platforms, each with its own inbox and saved replies. The HerePicks guide isn't tied to any of them: its link never changes, and you paste it into your Airbnb welcome message just as you would into the email for a direct booking.
Airbnb has its own rules on links in listings and messages; they're covered on the Airbnb digital guidebook page. For other platforms the principle is the same: the link goes out once the booking is confirmed, and the QR code waits for guests in the property.
Chalet, city flat, country house: different places
- A chalet or mountain flat: ski hire, lift times, mountain huts, and what stays open between seasons.
- A city flat: the morning bakery, the market, the tram stop and the restaurants locals actually go to.
- A holiday home in the countryside: the supermarket open on Sundays, local producers, walks that start from the door.
If you let several properties, each gets its own guide and QR code, with travel times worked out from its own address. Which places to include, and how many? Our guide to the best local spots to recommend answers that, and our free template helps you draft the list.
A link before arrival, a QR code in the property
The link goes in your welcome message so guests can plan ahead. On site, a QR code opens the same guide: HerePicks prepares an A5 card, a folded A4 table tent, an A4 card and a round sticker, ready to print. Where to put them so they actually get scanned is the subject of our guide to the guest welcome QR code.
How much does it cost for a holiday rental?
The Discovery plan is free for one property and up to 10 recommendations, with a "Made with HerePicks" mention at the bottom of the guide. The Host plan removes the limit and the mention, and adds your logo, your colours and viewing statistics. For two to five rentals, the Pro plan covers them all. Details are on the pricing page, and you can create your guide for free right now.
Frequently asked questions
Does the same guide work for Airbnb, Booking.com and Vrbo?
Yes. The guide isn't tied to any platform: the same link and QR code work however the guest booked.
Can I add the wifi code and check-in instructions?
No, HerePicks is designed for local recommendations only. Keep access, wifi and instructions in your arrival message or on a card in the property, and add the guide's link there.
I have several rentals: do I need one guide per property?
It's a good idea, since the nearby places change from one property to the next. Each property has its own guide and QR code; the Pro plan covers up to five properties.
My chalet is let in summer and winter: do I need two guides?
Not necessarily. You can hide a place out of season and show it again when it reopens. On the Host plan, you can also prepare a summer guide and a winter guide, each with its own QR code.
Do guests need to install an app?
No. The guide opens in the phone's browser, with no account or app, in the guest's language.
